The RedM resources (scripts Lua, asset stream) turn an empty server into a full western roleplay experience. This guide covers the addition of scripts, file management server.cfg, dependencies and loading order on a professional RedM hosting.
Structure of a resource
Each resource is a folder in resources/ Containing one fxmanifest.lua (or __resource.lua legacy). The manifest declares client/server scripts, stream files and dependencies.
Prerequisite
Add Resource
- Download the script (GitHub, Tebex, forum Cfx.re)
- Upload the folder via file manager in
resources/[local]/nom-script - Read README: dependencies, SQL, config
- Import SQL if required
- Add
ensure nom-scriptinserver.cfgafter its dependencies - Restart or
refresh+ensure nom-scriptin console
server.cfg, good practice
- Group the units by category (core, jobs, mapping, vehicles)
- Comment (
#) test scripts rather than delete them - Use
sv_scriptHookAllowed 0in production - Define
sets localefor French if applicable
Scripts stream (mapping, props)
Stream resources often do not have heavy Lua logic but increase bandwidth. Install them gradually and monitor performance. See mapping & interiors.
Security & Quality
- Preferred open source scripts or recognized vendors
- Avoid unaudited obfuscated resources
- Update after each Rockstar patch / RedM artifacts
- Test on Staging Server before production
Troubleshooting
- Script does not start, fxmanifest invalid, missing dependency
- SQL error, migration not imported
- Conflict between scripts, two resources modify the same mechanics (inventory, jobs)
FAQ
Does FiveM scripts work on RedM? No, except RDR2-enabled explicit ports. Check RedM compatibility in documentation.
