Install VORP or RP framework on RedM

Most RedM roleplay servers rely on a framework like VORP Core, RSG or RedEM:RP. This guide details the installation of VORP on a hosted RedM server: MySQL database, characters, inventory, jobs and good configuration practices.

Save your server before any framework installation. An SQL reset is often required when changing the framework.

VORP Core, overview

VORP provides: Management of the characters mult slots, inventory, trades, bank, horses, crafts and Lua API for your custom scripts. The ecosystem is mature for the Western RedM universe.

Prerequisite

  • RedM server online, start RedM
  • MySQL database (included or external according to offer)
  • Valid Cfx.re license key
  • Access file manager and console

Installation VORP Core

  1. Download vorp_core and the official dependencies (vorp_inventory, vorp_character...)
  2. Place folders in resources/
  3. Import SQL files provided in your MySQL database
  4. Configure SQL connection in vorp_core/config.lua or via oxmysql
  5. Add in server.cfg :
    • ensure oxmysql (or mysql-async depending on version)
    • ensure vorp_core
    • ensure vorp_character, vorp_inventory, etc.
  6. Restart and check the creation of characters in play

Recommended loading order

  1. Books: oxmysql, ox_lib if used
  2. vorp_core
  3. VORP modules (character, inventory, menu...)
  4. Jobs and professional scripts (vorp_policy, vorp_mining...)
  5. Mapping and last vehicles/horses

Basic roleplay configuration

  • Starting money and currency in config VORP
  • Whitelist via script or dedicated resource
  • RP regulation displayed via Discord + MOTD server
  • Essential jobs : sheriff, doctor, blacksmith, ranch

Alternatives to VORP

RSG Core and RedEM:RP are active alternatives. Compare the availability of paid/free scripts before migration. The installation procedure remains similar: SQL + secure + config.

Troubleshooting

  • MySQL Error, identifiers, host 127.0.0.1, base created
  • Shocked character, incomplete SQL tables, schema reimport
  • Spawn empty inventory, incorrect order, vorp_inventory after vorp_core
