One modpack Forge turns your Java Minecraft server into a modeled experience (technical, RPG, adventure). At Anthony IT Solutions, your Minecraft server comes with access to the game panel: you choose Forge, allocate RAM and deploy your mods from the file manager or SFTP.
This guide details the installation of a complete Forge modpack, CurseForge, FTB or manual, with good RAM practices, Java version and crash troubleshooting on startup.
What you need
- A Minecraft server with egg Forge, offers Minecraft
- sufficient RAM (6 GB minimum for small modpacks, 8-12 GB for medium modpacks)
- Access to gamepanel and file manager
- The selected modpack (server file or mods list + configs)
Choose the correct Forge version
Each modpack is linked to a specified version Minecraft (1.12.2, 1.18.2, 1.20.1...). Check the CurseForge or FTB page:
- Minecraft version of the modpack (e.g. 1.20.1)
- Recommended Forge version (install exact build if indicated)
- Java: Java 17 for 1.18+, Java 8 for 1.12.2 and anterior
When ordering or from the panel, select the egg Forge Minecraft and the corresponding version. See also Version, Forge, Fabric & modpacks.

Starting variables
Adjust the RAM in the panel variables, see JVM arguments.
-

The first launch can take several minutes (generation of configs).
Method 2: Manual installation of mods
If you assemble your own pack:
- Install Forge via panel or jar install
- Place each
.jarin/mods - Copy folders
/configprovided by the pack if available - Remove client-only mods (JEI on server OK, OptiFine no)
RAM and modpack performance
- Small pack (< 50 mods): 4-6 GB
- Average Pack (50-150 mods): 8-10 GB
- Gross pack (150+ mods): 12 GB and more, upgrade if necessary
Apply the Aikar flags if you use Paper for a subserver; for pure Forge, prefer a stable allocation without swaps. Details: optimize TPS performance.
Common troubleshooting
- Crash on startup, mod incompatible or forge version incorrect ; read
crash-reports/latest.txt. - Missing mods on the client side, players must install the same modpack via CurseForge/Prism.
- OutOfMemoryError, increase RAM or remove the heavier mods.
- Reboot cowl, EULA not accepted or jar Forge corrupted.
