Network principle

A proxy (BungeeCord or Velocity) connects several Minecraft servers: players connect to the proxy and then switch between servers (lobby, survival, minigames) without disconnecting.

Putting the proxy in place

  1. Create a proxy service (BungeeCord/Velocity)
  2. Declare your servers in config.yml (Bungee) or velocity.toml
  3. Pass each backend server in online-mode=false and activate proxy mode

Secure liaison

  • Activate BungeeGuard or the modern forwarding of Velocity
  • Block direct access to backend servers (in-house firewall/IP)
  • Check that only the proxy is publicly exposed

Good practices

Keep the versions compatible between proxy and servers, and synchronize inter-server plugins (permissions, chat) if necessary.
