Optimize & reduce lag

Control Addons

Addons are the first cause of lag on Garry's Mod:

• Install only the really useful addons
• Avoid obsolete duplicates and addons
• Focus on optimized versions (e.g. props, effects)

Network settings

1. Adjust sv_maxrate, sv_minrate and tickrate Reasonable
2. Limit maxplayers according to the power of your offer
3. Enable a Fast Download to relieve the game server

Monitor performance

Use net_graph 1 client side and monitor the server FPS. Identify expensive addons and remove those that degrade the server.

Good practices

• Restart regularly to free memory
• Test each new addon before production
