Start your TeamSpeak 3 server

TeamSpeak 3 remains the reference for gaming voice communication, RP communities and sports. This guide explains the installation, the first start, recovery of the token administrator and connecting your members to a TS3 Anthony IT Solutions hosting.

At the first launch, TS3 generates a token privilege for single use to get admin rights. Keep it right away.

Prerequisite

  • Offer hosting TeamSpeak 3 active
  • TS3 client on PC for administration and testing

First start

  1. Open your TS3 instance in the client area
  2. Click Start, the server initializes SQLite database and config
  3. Check the logs: copy the token Server Admin displayed once
  4. Note the address: IP:9987 (UDP voice) by default
  5. Log in with the TS3 client: Login → server address
  6. Use the token: Permissions → Use token privilege

Ports TeamSpeak 3

  • 9987 UDP, vote (mandatory)
  • 10011 TCP, ServerQuery ( API administration)
  • 30033 TCP, file transfer (optional)

Ports are opened automatically on your offer. See Query Server for advanced administration.

Recommended initial configuration

  • Rename the virtual server (publicly displayed name)
  • Create permanent channels (Admin, General, AFK, Games Shows...)
  • Set server password if private community
  • Create admin groups and moderators, permissions

Backup from the start

After basic configuration, export a snapshot, snapshots & backups. Restoring is easier than reconfiguring everything manually.

Troubleshooting

  • Token expired or lost, regenerate via console/query or media depending on access
  • Cannot connect, check IP, port 9987, local firewall
  • Codec or latency, set voice quality in server settings
