What is an IP failover?

A IP failover is an address that you can tap from one server to another. It ensures continuity of service: if a server falls, you reassign the IP to a backup server.

Toggle IP

  1. From the client space, open the management of additional IP
  2. Reassign IP to destination service
  3. Configure the address on the new server (see Linux/Windows guides)

Server-side configuration

On the target server, add IP failover as a secondary address and check the gateway. The time to spread the tip is usually short.

Use cases

  • High availability (HA) between two servers
  • Migration without changing your public address
  • Planned maintenance without visible cutout
